Are you ready to experience the biggest week in downtown Phoenix history? With over one million visitors expected, this week is sure to be an unforgettable experience! As the city prepares for this unique and exciting event, it is important to understand the best ways to get around downtown. In this blog post, we will provide an overview of transportation options available to visitors, so you can make the most of your time in the city.
The City of Phoenix is offering free light rail rides to anyone with a pass or ticket to any Super Bowl event downtown. All you need to do is show the QR code from the NFL OnePass app to fare inspectors. In addition to light rail, pre-booked parking is also available for those who plan to drive downtown. Furthermore, micro-mobility options such as e-scooters and e-bikes are also available.
Valley Metro is preparing for what could be the busiest day in the light rail’s history. As of now, the busiest day ever recorded was back in 2015 during the last Super Bowl week in Arizona. On the Saturday before the game in 2015, 126,000 people rode the light rail. To accommodate the influx of people, Valley Metro will be running 57 trains, with the potential to reach up to 60 trains. Trains will be running every 15 to 20 minutes, with more trains moving when there’s large crowds in downtown like when concerts end at Hance Park.
Ride share is also an option with two designated rideshare areas, one around Hance Park and another outside the Phoenix Convention Center. Finally, Downtown Phoenix Inc. will have its ambassadors out all week long, helping to guide people around downtown. Just look for them in orange!
With so many transportation options available, there’s no excuse not to make the most of your time in downtown Phoenix this week! So, make sure you plan ahead and take advantage of all the transportation options available to you.
