Are you ready to pay more for the best seat in the house? AMC Theaters is rolling out a new initiative called Sightline at AMC that could make your ticket cost depend on your seat location. From Standard Sightline to Value Sightline and Preferred Sightline, AMC is shaking up the movie-going experience with a tiered pricing system. In this blog post, we’ll discuss the details of AMC’s new pricing system and how it could impact the movie-going experience as we know it.

It’s no secret that movie tickets have become increasingly expensive in recent years, but AMC’s Sightline at AMC takes it one step further. The initiative divides AMC’s seats into three sections, or Sightlines: Standard, Value, and Preferred. Standard Sightline seats are the most common in auditoriums and are available for the traditional cost of a ticket. Value Sightline seats are found in the front row of the auditorium, as well as select ADA seats in each auditorium, and are priced at a lower cost than standard seats. Preferred Sightline seats, meanwhile, are the best seats in the house and will cost movie-goers more. Fortunately, AMC Stubs A-List members will not incur additional costs for sitting in the Preferred Sightline sections.

It’s important to note that AMC’s new tiered movie seat costs will only apply to movies that begin after 4 p.m. Additionally, the initiative will arrive in all United States AMC locations by the end of the year. In New York, Chicago, and Kansas City, this variable admission will begin in the second week of February.

Eliot Hamlisch, executive VP and CMO at AMC Theatres, notes, “Sightline at AMC more closely aligns AMC’s seat pricing approach to that of many other entertainment venues, offering experienced-based pricing and another way for moviegoers to find value at the movies.” Hamlisch seems to liken the movie-going experience to something like a concert or other on-stage show or play. And those experiences do have tiered ticket cost levels.

AMC’s Sightline at AMC initiative will no doubt have a significant impact on the movie-going experience. Whether you’re a Standard Sightline movie-goer or a Preferred Sightline movie-goer, it’s important to stay informed about AMC’s new pricing system. So be sure to keep an eye out for Sightline at AMC in your local theater!
