Have you ever seen a UFO? Many people have seen strange and unusual objects in the sky, but few can say they’ve seen a Chinese spy balloon. That’s exactly what happened in Colombia and Costa Rica last week when a mysterious object was spotted in the skies for more than a half hour.

The Colombian Air Force detected an object above 55,000 feet, which entered Colombian airspace in the northern sector of the country, moving at an average speed of 25 knots. According to the Colombian Air Force, the object had characteristics similar to those of a balloon. After being followed by the National Air Defense System, the object left Colombian airspace.

The Pentagon later assessed the balloon to be a Chinese surveillance balloon, causing a stir in the international community. In Costa Rica, Esteban Carranza, a lawyer, filmed the balloon and wrote that it was “the same type of balloon spotted in the US.” He also said that the object remained still for a long time, despite a wind of 45 knots.

In response to the Chinese surveillance balloon, the US military used an F-22 Raptor to take it out with a single air-to-air A9X sidewinder missile. It was fired at an altitude of approximately 58,000 feet. This decision was made after President Joe Biden allowed the balloon to fly thousands of miles over the continental US during the last several days.

This news out of Colombia and Costa Rica has left many people wondering what else is flying around in the sky. It’s a reminder that the world is a complex place, and that there are always things happening that we don’t know about.
