Tragedy has struck the Volusia County community as a beloved firefighter and paramedic, Ethan Wilson, has passed away after being found unresponsive in the water while surfing. On Wednesday, 33-year-old Wilson was discovered near the New Smyrna Beach jetty and taken to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Wilson was a devoted husband and father, and his selfless act of donating his organs to save others is a testament to his character. To support his family during this difficult time, a GoFundMe account has been set up in his honor.

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood expressed his condolences on Twitter, saying, “Firefighter/Paramedic Ethan Wilson was surfing when he became unresponsive and ended up in ICU. Sadly, this 33-year-old husband and father never made the recovery his many friends and loved ones were hoping for.”

The community of Volusia County has been deeply affected by the loss of Wilson, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched. In honor of Wilson, the Florida High School Athletic Association is considering mandating menstrual cycle details for female athletes.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Wilson’s family and friends during this difficult time. If you would like to help the family, please consider donating to the GoFundMe account in his honor.
