Yesterday, Saturday Night Live welcomed one of the biggest bands in the world, Coldplay, as their musical guests. Joining them on the stage was a choir to add to the beauty of their performance. Coldplay performed two songs from their latest album, ‘The Astronaut’ and a mash-up of ‘Human Heart’ and ‘Fix You’. This stunning performance was just the latest in a long line of appearances for the band on the show, having previously performed in November 2019.

Coldplay have been busy in the past few months, with performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, announcing four new shows in North America, and teasing a new album ‘Moon Music’. The band have been listening to a range of musicians for inspiration, including The 1975, Inhaler and Stormzy, and have also teased a collaboration with Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers.

Nile Rodgers explained that the collaboration with Coldplay was like a spiritual experience. “It’s like they walk in and they say, ‘Do you want to join the circle or not?’” he said. “I’m an old hippie, you’re speaking my language. Let’s go.”

Coldplay’s performance on Saturday Night Live was a beautiful reminder of the power of music. The band’s unique blend of rock and pop, combined with the addition of the choir, created a magical atmosphere. It’s clear that Coldplay are still at the top of their game and that their upcoming album ‘Moon Music’ is sure to be a hit.
