It’s been 15 years since the classic teen comedy Superbad hit theaters, and in that time, the film has become an iconic coming-of-age classic. Recently, writer and actor Seth Rogen, who appeared in the film as Officer Michaels, made some comments about high school movies which have sparked a debate about the best teen movies since Superbad.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Rogen spoke about his The Fabelmans co-star, Gabe LaBelle, and made the joke that no one has made a good high school movie since Superbad. Of course, this statement was met with a lot of pushback from fans of teen movies. Twitter users began to list off some of the great movies that have come out since Superbad, including The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Edge of Seventeen, Lady Bird, and Booksmart.

In response to this debate, it’s worth mentioning Seth Rogen’s latest film, The Fabelmans, which was just nominated for seven Academy Awards. The Fabelmans tells the story of 16-year-old aspiring filmmaker Sammy Fabelman and stars Gabriel LaBelle, Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, and Judd Hirsch.

So, what do you think? Do you have a favorite high school movie that was made after Superbad? Let us know in the comments!
