The morning of January 27th, 2021 started like any other for Nicola Bulley, a mother-of-two and mortgage broker from Lancashire, England. She dropped her daughters off at school, then took her springer spaniel for their usual walk by the River Wyre. But what happened next is a mystery that has yet to be solved.

Nicola Bulley has been missing since that morning, leaving her family and friends desperate for answers. She was last seen that day by fellow dog walkers, laughing and joking as she passed by. She had called into a work conference call, keeping her camera off and microphone muted, and had sent an email to her boss at 8.53 a.m.

Her last confirmed sighting was at 9.10 a.m., when another dog walker saw her walking with Willow on Upper Field. Her phone was later found on a riverside bench at 9.20 a.m., still connected to the conference call, and her dog was found running loose between the gate to the field and the bench.

Since then, a search party launched by Lancashire Police involving specialist resources is now into its eighth day. Officers say they do not believe her disappearance is suspicious, but they are “particularly interested” in the time between the phone being placed on the bench at 9.20 a.m. and the device being recovered 10 minutes later.

Using underwater drones, divers have been scouring the full length of the River Wyre downstream. On the ground, the search for Bulley continues, with officers using specially trained police dogs. Amid growing speculation and local safety concerns, police believe that Bulley had fallen into the river.

The local community has come together to help find her, organizing walks around the river from St Michaels up to Knott End for the community to follow. Bulley’s family have urged anyone who may have information to come forward, as her two daughters, aged six and nine, are “desperate” to have their mother back safely.

The mystery of Nicola Bulley’s disappearance is an unsettling reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment. Let’s all keep her family and friends in our thoughts and prayers as the search for her continues.
