On January 25th, the Van Nuys neighborhood of Los Angeles has declared the day she passed away, Cindy Williams Day. Williams was best known for her role as Shirley in the hit series “Laverne & Shirley”, and her life’s work is an inspiration to young women everywhere.
Cindy Williams was born in Van Nuys, and raised in the neighborhood. She starred in the “Laverne & Shirley” series from 1976 to 1983, and the show received 6 Golden Globe nominations and 1 Emmy nomination. During her career, Williams also appeared in 8 Simple Rules, and took on projects on Broadway.
A spokesperson for the sixth district of Los Angeles said, “Our office was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Cindy Williams, a Van Nuys treasure and Hollywood icon. Throughout her life, Cindy served as a role model to young women in Hollywood and showed them that, through hard work and dedication, they could achieve whatever they put their minds to.”
Cindy Williams was a trailblazer in the entertainment industry and her legacy will live on forever. Her life and work will continue to inspire young women to pursue their dreams and reach their full potential.
