This past Saturday night, a special charity event was held in honor of the late FOX 2 meteorologist, Jessica Starr. Four years ago, Jessica ended her life after complications from a vision-correcting surgery, and this event was a tribute to her memory. The proceeds from the event will be going towards a 3,200-square-foot splash pad at Novi’s Bosco Park, a memorial to Jessica that will bring joy to those young and old.

The event was organized by the Novi Chamber of Commerce and was attended by many of Jessica’s friends, family, and colleagues. FOX 2 meteorologist Derek Kevra, who had become friends with Jessica in 2013, spoke at the event. He shared his fond memories of Jessica, as well as his excitement for the splash pad that will be built in her honor.

Melissa Agosta, the Director of the Novi Parks Foundation, also spoke at the event. She expressed her appreciation for the community’s generous donations and shared her belief that Jessica would be honored and pleased. Donations can still be made at noviparksfoundation.org/jessica.

Jessica’s memory will live on through the splash pad at Bosco Park. It will be a place of joy and celebration, where families can come together and create lasting memories.
