Tragedy struck the small town of Wharton, Texas on Friday as a 3-year-old child tragically passed away after accidentally shooting himself. The incident occurred when the child found a gun on his mother’s nightstand and shot himself.

The Wharton Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is currently investigating the case. The child was taken to the hospital after the shooting, but despite the hospital staff’s best efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead.
