Introducing the newest champion of the NHL All-Star Weekend, Andrei Svechnikov of the Carolina Hurricanes! Representing the Hurricanes with Head Coach Rod Brind’Amour in Sunrise, Florida, Svechnikov emerged as the winner of the Fastest Skater competition. In an impressive display of speed and agility, he beat out the competition, posting the best time of 13.757 seconds.

Svechnikov’s victory marks the third consecutive All-Star Skills win for the Hurricanes. His win follows in the footsteps of Jaccob Slavin, who won the Accuracy Shooting in 2020, and Sebastian Aho, who won the same competition in Las Vegas last year. This makes Svechnikov the third Canes player to win the Fastest Skater, joining Sami Kapanen, who won in both 2000 and 2002.

Svechnikov’s lap began humbly, as he admitted he felt he “had no chance”. But he proved himself wrong, and emerged with the quickest lap of the night, later announcing he was “super excited to win this”. His victory was well-deserved, as he beat out the likes of Cale Makar (COL), Chandler Stephenson (VGK), Dylan Larkin (DET), and Kevin Fiala (LA) in the finals.

The Hurricanes have certainly made their mark at the NHL All-Star Weekend, and they are sure to be proud of Svechnikov’s impressive victory. Congratulations to the newest Fastest Skater champion!
