The Power of a Mother’s Love: Dwayne Johnson Reveals His Mom’s Near-Death Experience
On February 2nd, Dwayne Johnson, the beloved actor, producer and former professional wrestler, took to Instagram to share a heartbreaking post. His mother, Ata Johnson, had been in a car crash the night before, and was now being evaluated for her injuries. While Johnson was thankful that his mother had survived, he used the opportunity to remind us all of the power of a mother’s love.
Ata Johnson, at 74, is no stranger to near-death experiences. In 2018, Johnson revealed that he had saved his mother from committing suicide when he was just a teenager. He had found her walking onto a highway in Nashville, and he quickly pulled her back onto the gravel shoulder of the road. His mother has no recollection of the event, and Johnson believes that is for the best.
The actor’s post was a reminder to us all to cherish our parents, especially our mothers. As Johnson said, “I got one parent left, so if you still got your mom and dad make sure you hug ‘em hard, cos you never know when you’ll get that 3am call we never want to get.”
His mother’s story is a powerful reminder of the strength of a mother’s love. Ata Johnson has survived lung cancer, a difficult marriage, a head-on collision with a drunk driver, and an attempted suicide. Johnson said it best himself: “She’s a survivor, in ways that make angels and miracles real.”
The power of a mother’s love is something that should never be taken for granted. We should all take a moment to be thankful for our mothers, and for their strength and resilience.
Let’s all take a moment to send our love and support to Dwayne Johnson and his mother, Ata Johnson.
