The morning of Thursday, January 14th, 2021 was not a typical one for the Eau Claire County Humane Association in Wisconsin. When the team arrived at work, they found a sweet dog, named Gus, tied to the front door. In temperatures as low as 9 degrees, it was clear that the dog had been abandoned and had no idea what was happening. The team was heartbroken.

Fortunately, the story has a happy ending. After the shelter shared the details of what happened, the owner of Gus came forward to officially surrender him. Now, the team can adopt Gus out as soon as he is cleared by a veterinarian, avoiding a legal stray hold as mandated by statute.

The Eau Claire County Humane Association has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for Gus and the other animals in their care. If you are interested in adopting Gus or any other animal, you can go online and visit their website.

No animal deserves to be abandoned, and it’s inspiring to see the team at the Eau Claire County Humane Association come together to ensure that Gus is safe and loved. We are proud to be part of a community that takes care of its animals and we hope that Gus finds his forever home soon.
